About JennLake Meadows

JennLake Meadows opened in 1995 as a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a site-built home or living in an apartment, primarily for students attending the College of Veterinary Medicine. David and Dixie Jennings moved to Starkville in 1978 when Dave became a founding faculty member at the College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1992 they helped their daughter Dori and her husband purchase a manufactured home in a land lease community while attending Auburn University. They realized that Starkville did not have anything similar, and they set out to develop JennLake. Dave retired from the CVM in 2004 and he and Dixie moved to Atlanta, where Dori lived. In 2016, Dori moved back to Starkville to manage JennLake. She lives onsite and keeps horses on the property.

We strive to provide a safe and quiet community environment for homeowners while keeping lot rent fees at an affordable price point for parents getting kids through college, married graduate students, young professionals, down-sizers, and game homes. The primary resident must be an immediate family member of the homeowner. It works because each homeowner takes responsibility for their own lot and home maintenance. 

We have been blessed with great residents over the years who keep the homes in good condition. We also have earned our reputation for being a great place to live. Some families have rotated multiple children through JennLake while they attended college. Some have sold their home after one child graduated, then later purchased it back again for another younger child when they went to school. Recently, we’ve started getting parents who once lived here as students and now they want their children to live here while they attend college.

JennLake Meadows is conveniently located just East of Starkville, MS in Oktibbeha County. We are about 3 miles from Mississippi State University, 6 miles from EMCC, 20 miles from MUW, and less than a mile from the MSU golf course.
